The CARE Coalition is a local community group in Transylvania County that works to reduce substance use disorder and misuse. It started in 2010 with a few healthcare professionals worried about the rising number of overdoses. Since then, the coalition has grown to include over 60 members, a team of 5 staff, and 20 community partners. They have also received federal funding to help with prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts.
The coalition represents different community interests and collaborates to tackle substance misuse. Through various programs, the CARE Coalition educates the community, raises awareness, and provides support services. Their goal is to create a healthier, safer environment for everyone in Transylvania County by working together and using available resources effectively.
