Burial services in a national cemetery is available to all military service members who have completed a minimum active duty service requirement and received a discharge under conditions other than dishonorable. This area laid the groundwork for Raleigh’s growth. Raleigh National Cemetery, situated in a secluded location, features a prominent Georgian Revival lodge and is enclosed by a masonry wall. Recognized for its historical significance, Raleigh National Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
